Form 2 Visit Yorkshire Sculpture Park
On a bright, sunny April day, Form 2 went on a trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We set off from school in the morning and arrived at the park 40 minutes later. The first sculpture that we saw was the womanhare, with the body of a woman and the head of a hare. I liked the detail that the artist had included and we could see a small handprint from her tiny son. My favorite part of the day was when we built out own sculpture. We used wood, stone and a red cup to make a creepercorn, a cross between a creeper, a unicorn and a lion. We left our sculpture under a tree. The park was a great trip and we all enjoyed it.

Pupils from Cundall Manor School are celebrating another superb set of exam results with a 100% pass rate in the recent English Speaking Board exams. Pupils from Form 4 and Form 2 sat the examinations in which they had to present a topic of personal interest. The ESB exams develops reading and listening skills while allowing pupils the chance to develop soft skills such as public speaking, delivering with confidence and debating, amongst others Head of Forms 1-4, Mr Bayne, said: “We are very pleased to say that all of our Form 2 and 4 pupils passed the English Speaking Board examinations at the end of last term. As a staff, we were delighted with each result and proud of the hard work that the pupils put into their presentations, poem recitals, book readings and listening/participation within their small groups.” He adds: “The ESB process really allows children to develop their confidence when interacting in small groups and this in turn leads to raised self-esteem and confidence for speaking in front of larger audiences and future business and social situations.” The pupils celebrated with a certificate presentation on the school lawn earlier this week. Cundall Pupils Embrace Charity Fun Run to Support Local Hospitals

Blue Monday was no match for the energy and enthusiasm of Cundall Manor pupils, who braved the wintry conditions for a colourful and spirited fun run, raising funds for York and Scarborough hospitals. Among the participants were superheroes, football stars, a T-Rex, and even a determined ‘President Trump,’ who launched his ‘Make America Great Again’ campaign by finishing the course—despite being tied to several classmates. Every pupil, from Reception through to Year 8, took on the challenge of completing at least one kilometre, with most running 3-5km and navigating various obstacles along the way. After braving the cold, pupils were rewarded with steaming hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies at the finish line—a well-earned treat after their spirited effort. Pupil sponsorship for the event raised £1,100 for York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity. At Cundall Manor, pupils are encouraged to contribute not just to their school but to the wider community. Events like this fun run reinforce the importance of giving back, fostering generosity, and proving that even in challenging weather, teamwork and determination can make a real difference. We are incredibly proud of our pupils for their enthusiasm, resilience, and commitment to supporting such a worthwhile cause.
